One TRICARE: One Standard of Care

While each TRICARE plan may have different cost-sharing, eligibility rules, or referral requirements, access to a recognized medical treatment, service, or prescription should be a core principle of all TRICARE plans.

Equal service should earn equal access to care — regardless of age or TRICARE plan.

Until recently, that principle was universally understood.

The One TRICARE Initiative exists to restore and protect this standard by codifying it into law.

Why This Matters

On August 31, 2025, coverage for my prescribed medication, Zepbound, was terminated under TRICARE For Life.

This change applied only to GLP-1 medications prescribed for obesity, following a Defense Health Agency policy update.

This campaign is not about one person or one medication.

The Precedent Being Set

Same service.

Same condition.

Different rules — based solely on age.

If allowed to stand, this logic can be applied to deny any future high-cost treatment.

Why a Legislative Solution Is Necessary

TRICARE For Life was created to correct the exclusion of retirees over 65 from TRICARE.

Unequal standards of care reverse that progress.

Only Congress can restore one standard of access across all TRICARE plans.
